How do I use the clearinghouse?
Users
can access information in the clearinghouse through a variety
of ways, including quick and detailed search options, as well
as links to other informative sites on the Web. In the future,
the clearinghouse will also offer pre-packaged search results
on topics chosen by BRYCS staff.

of the database to enhance your search, look at our search
tips.
How
can I obtain resources in the clearinghouse?
Clearinghouse
records include availability statements on how to obtain resources
that are not included in full text. This information may include
directions for ordering a resource directly from an organization
or publisher, a recommendation to try your local library,
or a link to a third party vendor equipped to sell the resource
in question. Please see our disclaimer
regarding links to other sites.
Due
to copyright, budget, and staff constraints, BRYCS cannot
respond to resource fulfillment requests.
How
do I access documents available in PDF format?
All the full text materials available through the BRYCS Web
site are in a format that is compatible for viewing within
an Internet browser. This means that they are available as
a link to the original source of the material (i.e. another
Web site that has given us permission to link to the document),
as an HTML or XML formatted document, or as a PDF file. The
PDF format is viewable using Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free
PDF viewer that is available for download
here.

How is the clearinghouse collection developed?
Early on, BRYCS
conducted a needs assessment with potential clearinghouse
users from local and national resettlement agencies, mutual
assistance associations, national ethnic organizations, and
public child welfare agencies. Combined with information gathered
in our technical assistance activities
and ongoing communications with service providers, this helps
us to understand information needs, as well as to prioritize
topics and document types for acquisition. For more details,
see our collection
development page.
