What
is the BRYCS clearinghouse?
The
BRYCS clearinghouse is a collection of relevant and accessible
resources related to refugee youth and child well-being, covering
a range of topics and formats. It includes original BRYCS
materials, as well as descriptions of community-based programs
supporting refugee youth, children and their families.
The
clearinghouse is designed to meet the information needs of
a variety of service providers who work with refugee youth,
children and families. For more details, see the description
of our collection.
Clearinghouse
records provide bibliographic information, a description of
the resource, subject terms and information on how to obtain
resources. The full text of resources is included when technology
and copyright permissions allow. Information is organized
according to a custom-built thesaurus of keywords, and can
be searched in several ways.
What
role do clearinghouse users and local agencies play?
The
information needs and desires of local service providers have
guided the development of this clearinghouse from the beginning.
Such guidance comes to BRYCS through our technical assistance
activities, a needs assessment, and ongoing communication
with service providers.
Local
refugee-serving agencies make valuable contributions to family
harmony and preservation. They often know best what works
with children, youth, parents and families from different
cultures, religions and countries, and in all settings around
the United States.
Your
participation is important to ensure that the clearinghouse
is useful to local agencies, and that the best information
is shared. Send in program
descriptions or suggest resources;

participate in the clearinghouse.
What
are the benefits of participating in the clearinghouse?
Participating
in the clearinghouse can help service providers:
-
receive and share innovative program ideas with the potential
for strengthening services,
- draw
attention to the service needs of refugee youth and children,
- help
build a national institutional memory on refugee family
issues,
- bring
national attention to star programs with minimal effort
and no cost,
- distinguish
your agency as a leader in refugee youth and child well-being.
Sharing
program information and ideas can help other providers develop
or fine-tune programs, thus extending the benefits to additional
refugee families. Clearinghouse program descriptions can be
searched and sorted by state, population served, and other
aspects, in order to locate programs of interest.
Help
us build the collection of program descriptions. Send in information
on your agency’s special
programs for refugee youth and children in the U.S., or
on refugee parenting or family issues.
What is the mission statement of
the clearinghouse?
The
mission of the BRYCS clearinghouse is to facilitate information-
and resource-sharing to strengthen services to refugee youth
and children in the United States.
